How to prompt ChatGPT to write an article

writing SEO article using AI prompts that ranks

SEO article writing prompt :

Generate a 1500-word SEO-optimized and AEO-focused article from the given keyword/niche/hints. The output should adhere to the following guidelines:

Steps:

keyword Identification:
Select one primary long-tail keyword (3-5 words) focusing on:
- Core topic from the given context
- Semantic patterns and frequently discussed concepts
- Search intent signals within the content
- Domain-specific terminology and field-specific language.
Ensure the primary keyword appears 5% of the total words, evenly distributed throughout the article.

Title Creation:
Create a compelling title (max 60 characters) featuring the primary keyword.
Focus on common search queries and user intent, such as question-based phrases ('how to...', 'why does...', 'best ways to...', and more as per your experience). Emulate terms likely to have high search volume based on popular trends and everyday language. Must include the main keyword.

Article Writing:

Create an Engaging H2 Heading:
Begin with a compelling HTML h2-equivalent heading that naturally includes the primary keyword but this heading must not be identical to the Title. The title should start with the primary keyword.
Ensure it’s eye-catching and engaging to draw readers in at first glance.
Keep it concise, aiming for under 60 characters while clearly indicating the article's topic or main benefit to the reader.

Never start with cliche type sentence like : Nowadays.. / In today's world.. / .. is very important in our life / It is a well-known fact that ... / In our modern society, ... / Life has become so much more ... / We live in a world where ... etc.
Instead start with something that the first few words create a curiosity in reader's mind.

Write a Hooking First Section:
Start with a powerful introductory paragraph beneath the heading that sets the tone, captures interest, and previews the article’s focus.
Mention the primary keyword in the first few sentences, ideally as part of a hook that draws in the reader.
Keep sentences short and easy to digest (5 to 8 words per sentence), avoiding complex vocabulary and repetition.
Use direct language that resonates with readers, aiming to make the introduction feel approachable and relevant to their needs.

Body Structure:
Use clear subheadings (equivalent to HTML h2, h3), ensuring a natural flow, and naturally include the primary keyword in subheadings.
Subsequent headings should follow hierarchical levels (h2, h3, h4) as necessary.
Naturally integrate keywords while also using synonyms and related terms.
Enhance readability with bullet points (✔️, ✅, ❌, ⚠️, ➤, ⭐ etc.) to emphasize points where suitable. Sometimes stress important words or phrases by bolding it.
Use idioms, phrases, and transitions (e.g., “however,” “furthermore”) to maintain engagement.
Paragraphs should be concise (2-5 sentences each).
Include one or more of FAQs, tips, do’s and don’ts, pros and cons.

Create Expert Authority Signals:
- Include industry statistics and data points with cited sources
- Reference expert opinions or studies
- Use professional terminology appropriately
- Demonstrate deep subject knowledge through detailed explanations

Recap:
Recap key points, using bullet form if necessary.
Keep it concise and relevant to the main topic.
Ensure the recap includes the primary keyword.

SEO Optimization:
Use keywords in the title, first paragraph, subheadings, and recap.
Use passive sentences for about 10% of the content.

<PROVIDE YOUR RAW INFO HERE>

copy that, and paste it in ChatGPT. Below the prompt write your keyword/topic in place of <PROVIDE YOUR RAW INFO HERE>.

This AI article writing prompt is the result of my research for over 4 months. I tried few hundreds prompts, wrote 5-20 articles for each prompt, compared results, then released the most powerful prompt.

Anyway this prompt gave me 8 green 🟢 criteria as shown in the screenshot below:

got yoast green score by writing SEO article using AI

So what have you learnt till now? 💡 Writing high quality SEO article using AI.

Take another deep breath, longer way to go. Because no AI like ChatGPT, Gemini is going to fulfil the red marked 🔴 criteria out of the box. Still you have to manually-

  • Search google → Read top few results → Embed at least 1 outbound link
  • Search stock image providers → Decide keywords → Find out suitable photos → Insert images → Add featured image → Write Alt text for images
  • Add internal link
  • Craft a meta description that naturally includes keyword → Ensure meta description can hook your target audience
  • Naturally put keywords in H2 and H3 headings
  • Expand the article (as no AI in general write long-form content, because they are programmed to be as concise as possible).

After doing all these things, your article will be optimized for SEO. Again to focus on all those criteria, it’s normal to fail to produce engaging content. But AI can do all these things if you can instruct it by researching.

Doing so many works you still get a short (most cases) or medium (sometimes) article. But you don’t get log-form content. Because LLM models are instructed to produce content in concise.

How to make ChatGPT write longer articles

You have to expand each section manually. You will ask AI to expand your section. But wait, it’s also not simple task as it seems. Yes simple, but simply asking “expand this section…” won’t create quality content that is engaging.

Content Expansion Prompt

Below I have shared my secret recipe (prompt) that expands each section. Using this prompt your article will get these characteristics :

Readability

Why this matters: A high Flesch score means the content is easy to read and understand, especially for a broad audience. Google favors clarity and simplicity for better user satisfaction. High readability also enhances voice search performance and mobile consumption, key to AEO (Answer Engine Optimization).

Proper Keyword Density (2 times per 100 words)

Why this matters: Maintaining keyword density at this optimal level helps signal relevance to search engines without triggering keyword stuffing penalties. It balances discoverability with natural readability, helping rank better for target terms.

AEO-Focused Opening Sentence

Why this matters: Leading with a direct, conversational answer to a common question (especially using the keyword) aligns content with how users ask queries—especially via voice or mobile search. This dramatically improves chances of landing in featured snippets and “People also ask” boxes.

Short Sentences (7–20 words)

Why this matters: Short, punchy sentences improve clarity, scannability, and engagement. This supports both SEO (low bounce rate, high dwell time) and AEO (voice engines parse shorter responses more effectively).

Concise Paragraphs (2–4 sentences)

Why this matters: Compact paragraphs help users scan efficiently, especially on mobile devices. Clean structure reduces cognitive load and aligns with Google’s UX best practices.

Keyword-Optimized Subheadings Every 250 Words

Why this matters: Subheadings make content skimmable and accessible while reinforcing keyword relevance. They’re also indexed by search engines for contextual understanding and are crucial for SEO-rich structuring.

Use of Lists for Complex Points

Why this matters: Lists simplify information, making it more digestible and increasing time on page. They’re also favored in featured snippets and voice search responses.

Expert Tone with First-Hand Insights

Why this matters: Google’s E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authority, Trust) framework rewards genuine professional insights. First-person knowledge builds trust, credibility, and deeper user engagement.

Statistical Backing from Trusted Sources

Why this matters: Referencing known data builds authority and aligns your content with proven trends—without risking outbound link penalties or UX disruption.

Real Case Studies & Professional Stories

Why this matters: Personal anecdotes and performance metrics humanize the advice while demonstrating mastery. This earns reader trust and satisfies Google’s “experience” criteria under E-E-A-T.

Semantic Keywords and LSI Terms

Why this matters: Including variations of your main keyword naturally helps search engines understand the context and broadens ranking opportunities without repetitive phrasing.

Commercial Intent Signals Where Relevant

Why this matters: Aligning sections with buyer intent (e.g., benefits, comparisons, solutions) improves conversion potential and helps match searcher goals—critical for bottom-funnel content.

Natural Bolded Sentences with User Search Intent

Why this matters: Bolded summaries of key questions help AEO by flagging direct answers for search engines. They also enhance readability and content skimming for users.

Enough explanation, now copy-paste the prompt:

This is a section of an article. Expand it by exactly 30%, maintaining tone while optimizing for SEO and focusing on AEO.
Begin section with a clear, AEO-focused answer to the primary user question, incorporating the keyword.
Ensure the primary keyword appears naturally and strategically, maintaining a density of 2 times per 100 words.

Guidelines:

Content Structure:
Sentences: 7-20 words max
Paragraphs: 2-4 sentences
Break sections >250 words with keyword-optimized subheadings
Use bold, italic where necessary
Lists for complex points
Maintain Flesch score >95

Authority Enhancement:
- Ensure factual accuracy
- Leverage first-person, field-tested experiences with credible, verifiable insights
- Integrate industry data/statistics from reputable sources. Don't write url, but mention the source name.
- Share professional case studies demonstrating personal expertise. Talk like writer is highly expert in the field and sharing his lifelong experience
- Deploy expert terminology with context from hands-on professional encounters
- Highlight current industry trends through lens of direct professional observation
- Compare solutions using real-world implementation examples and personal performance metrics
- Substantiate claims with authoritative research and personal problem-solving narratives

SEO and AEO Integration:

ensure AEO-optimized.
Craft comprehensive, conversational content that directly answers user queries with authoritative, experience-driven insights
Natural placement in subheadings
LSI keywords and semantic variations
Commercial intent signals where relevant
Make sure to include at least one sentence with common user search intent information about the section topic in bold, using natural language that addresses the query directly.
